WHAT IS MEDITATION?
Meditation is defined as a practice where an individual uses a technique, such as focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity, to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. As people, we all want peace, balance, and a life we enjoy, full of love, laughter, and fulfilment. We live in a fast-paced environment where moving slow is frowned upon. Our brains have become dependent upon instant gratification and constant stimulation. Whether it's the phone we cant be away from, or the shows we binge on, we always find time to waste time. Anxiety & depression are at an all-time high in America and this is to no coincidence. 85% of doctor visits in the U.S are due to stress-related illnesses. We have lost the ability to connect with ourselves. Millennials have more conversations via text than they do via phone if we have lost the ability to speak to others how can we ever communicate with ourselves? Meditation allows us to no longer be consumed by the noise that surrounds us. For a few minutes at a time we can put the world on pause. No demands, no to-do's, no tomorrow, no yesterday, just being in the moment of right now. Meditation is not just for monks or the hippies in the park, meditation is for any and everyone looking to stress less and find balance in their life.
